The Australian Breastfeeding Association
ABA was founded in Melbourne, Victoria in 1964(as the Nursing Mothers' Association), with the primary aim of giving mother-to-mother support to breastfeeding women. This is a really wonderful breastfeeding and parenting resource. I particularly recommend the article on "Controlled Crying". Very accurate and straight information on basic breastfeeding and special situations e.g. Down Syndrome, multiples.

Blackfield Clothing.
Sabina designs and makes beautiful fleece clothes all from Achill island on the West coast of Ireland. Contemporary clothing with a celtic twist is what they promise

cotton baby
An Irish company run by another mum of six. They sell cotton nappies and covers from
the diaperaps range and more.

Cuidiu - The Irish Childbirth Trust.
Support and information on all aspects of parenting including antenatal classes, breastfeeding mornings, parent and baby mornings and a guide to the maternity services.

Home Birth Association of Ireland.
Four of our five children were born at home. When we were deciding our birth options we found attending some home birth meetings to be very informative.

International Baby-Food Action Network
You may have heard of the Nestle boycott and wondered what it was all about. IBFAN is an eye opener to the global implications of baby feeding "choices". Shucks, you start feeding a baby and end up wanting to save the world.

La Leche League of Ireland.
14 years ago when Margaret was born I succeeded in breastfeeding her with help from LLL.
Monthly meetings, lots of books, a wonderful network of support for the breastfeeding family.

Líonra Online
Líonra Online is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote and protect infant health and maternity rights through networking with individuals, parenting groups, health workers and relevant governmental and non-governmental organisations

The Natural Family Site
This is a good catch-all site for a number of parenting choices which tend to lead on from each other. Some are for every one, some have more limited general appeal. Natural Family Planning, Healthy Pregnancy Tips, Natural Childbirth, Breast feeding, Family Bed, Attachment Parenting, Infant Massage, Natural Living, Home Schooling.

Plush Pants
Another home run business, UK based this time, Vicki sells a huge range of nappies and covers.
Also made to order fleece clothes.

RollerCoaster.ie
This is a pretty conventional site but has the advantage of being local (to Ireland) and having discussion boards. Most useful to first time parents who want mainstream information. Oh dear, damning with faint praise. I'd better come clean and admit I don't agree with some of the advice, especially re getting babies to sleep.

Unicef
Because the world's kids are all our tomorrows.

The Baby Orchard
"For us, natural parenting is mostly about trust." Info, boards. They sell a good range of cloth nappies. An Irish "alternative parenting" site for want of a better description. I would feel more at home here.

Mary Aspinwall
This site has great information on homeopathy, both for the beginner and the student. They also sell Helios Homeopathy kits. We bought the basic & childhood ailments one and it has been pressed into service many a time. Sometimes we have had very good outcomes indeed.

Nitkit
Someday you'll be really glad you know where to lay your hands on this. Head lice are a real nuisance and really hard to get rid of unless you have the right information and technique. The combs are good, the booklet is unsurpassed in its clarity and accuracy.

Enniskerry
We live about a mile from the village and it is where our kids go to primary school. It's worth a visit if you're in the locality. Powerscourt Estate has the best formal gardens in Ireland (afaik)

DFI
DFI is a national umbrella organisation for voluntary non-statutory agencies who provide support services to people with disabilities and disabling conditions.
If you're looking for the support organisation for your special needs child in Ireland this is a good resource. Seventy national and local organisations are affiliated and links are there

The Soft Option
Sun says to "Honour your Goddess". She sells cloth menstrual pads and cloth nappies. A mum of 10 and a really nice person too.

Womens' Environmental Network
WEN is a unique, vital and innovative campaigning organisation, which represents women and campaigns on issues which link women, environment and health. Often WEN have been the first to raise issues that suddenly everyone realises are important

Cloth Bots
Another nappy site. Katy makes the nappies herself and also has instructions for making your own. Another home business being helped to get all the ducks in a row with Flylady.

Flylady
I was having a moan to one of my faithful customers about how dreadfully messy and disorganised our household was. You know, the recently visited by a tornado look? And all the little munchkins merrily flinging their laundry to the four corners and jammy fingerprint accents on all the walls. I won't even mention the science projects in the fridge, losty keys and general living in CHAOS. Flylady calls that Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome. We're not living in a show house yet but I can't express enough my gratitude to Flylady for the simple homely tips and support, all free at the site and through her emails. It's corny but it works. Thanks B & B for the pointer in Flylady's direction :-)

Flying in Ireland
This is an email support group for anyone in Ireland trying to follow Flylady's system. Most members are mums with families. We could do with some more posters. As Frank Sinatra sings "Come fly with me" :-)

Flying in United Kingdom
The parallel group in U.K. Much bigger membership and high volume of posts. Can be very informative

Tree Hugger Mums
A directory, articles and news site for those "alternative" type choices. Hey I think most of the time I'm in the sanity fringe, so no old fashioned looks :-)

Newpark School
This is where my eldest girl goes to school. Newpark is a very inclusive school with a good reputation for allowing teens to think their way through second level. A good choice for musical kids too. Their website has a huge links page for educational and teen/ parent of teen interest.
