Snuggler Hold is the way most people tend to hold a baby. This is how Teddy
will be supported in the sling at the end. Before I picked him up I pulled
up the inner edge of the sling to make a 45 degree hammock (see "Putting
On")
Holding the baby well flexed, feet up out of the way, aim his bottom
for the lowest point of the hammock you formed. As a guide, the
top of his head should be approximately level with the end of the
padding. The right hand is holding out the hammock.
Make sure he is deep in the pocket of material. Pull it up a bit at the
front.Feet still up out of the way. Once he is positioned the feet will
be able to stretch out a bit.
Now he's in, but not tightened up yet. . Wiggle out the arm in the sling
while supporting him with the other arm.
Check there is material under and in front of him. You can lean forward
slightly to adjust the inner edge of the hammock.
As you prepare to tighten up, tilt the baby towards the shoulder opposite
the rings. This will ensure he is correctly positioned in the swathe of
cloth after tightening.
Draw on the strap to tighten. Look out for long haired babies that the
hair doesn't get tangled. If the baby's bottom is not sufficently deep
in the hammock you will find at this stage that his head is too near the
rings as you tighten. Simply shunt him along the sling if you need to.
Very well snuggled. This postition will gradually become more open as
the baby gains head control. That is he will sit up more in the sling,
his head will peep out more. In fact it will evolve into the Little Buddha
position.
